How We WorkNetmonkeys’ Information Management team provide a complete end-to-end service from planning through to implementation and support of Information Management platforms. After initial discussion, or after attending one of our seminars, we offer a free half-day workshop with our customers to explore their current situation and what the potential benefits can be. (click here for more information) We handhold our customers through every step of a standard “best practice” methodology and work closely with them especially during analysis and design work – after all, they understand their business better than we do, and what will make real differences to them. (click here for a detailed guide to our project methodology) We provide our customers with a plain-english “charter” which outlines the commitments we make to our customers. This is important to set long term expectations. We are technology agnostic, and will recommend systems according to our customer requirements. We build on well proven, world class platforms that are future proof and leverage your existing investments and incrementally add new "best practice" components in a robust framework that will revolutionise the way your staff work. By default, we generally recommend Microsoft Sharepoint 2007 as the key central component of our systems, (see What Is Microsoft Sharepoint? [PDF]) We also have a number of “accelerator solutions” that provide the basis to quickly install the major components that a customer needs. An information management project is often more of a programme of phased projects. The first project delivers the basic system, and enough functionality so that it makes a positive benefit to the organization. Subsequent projects then add more functionality, replace legacy systems and/or involve more users. This approach reduces risk and issues that blight larger scale IT projects. Whilst all IT projects can have issues and difficulties along the way, it is important to our future business with customers that each project is ultimately delivered successfully. Nearly all failed IT projects can be traced back to the early stages, and the expectations that all parties had at that stage. Therefore, it is crucial to our relationship with customers that information (in the form of high quality specifications and other documents) and costings that we provide is clearly understood, and that customers trust us. There is absolutely no point in implementing systems that don’t have the buy-in of users, therefore, we strongly recommend that end-user training is taken seriously. We provide training, or will train key users of your company so that they can deliver end-user training. Establishing a business case is also strongly recommended. This does not need to be a long, formal document, but it is important to gauge to some degree what the benefits of the system will be in real terms. We can provide guidance in this area. All the work we do is project managed. This means the customer sees regular status updates, and any potential issues are raised, discussed and resolved quickly. We are not just an IT company, we are business people that are very good with technology and experts with information, and we never lose this focus
